LUX ON BROADWAY

An existing fraternity house along Broadway in Boulder, was re-imagined as student housing. A shining example of a adaptive re-use, the project scope included full field verification, as builts of the existing building on stilts, followed by a re-configuration into 10-multi-bedroom student rate apartment units.

While at SA+R, one of Colorado’s leading and trendy multi-family specialty firms, acted as project architect / BIM manager. Was involved in all phases from conceptual design, architectural and structural coordination through construction documents.

Was brought on as BIM manager in a time when the firm was in transition from AutoCAD to Revit, this represented one of the firms first fully BIM projects. Was responcible for field verification of the existing structure, pulling together cohesive set of as built documents, worked with the client to re-plan the existing structure given existing window configurations to a code-compliant, student housing structure. Various challenges were met and overcome with this existing structure, including egress issues.

Today, this existing re-imagined structure will live on in one of the most sustainable ways possible, which is taking an old building and giving it new life through an adaptive re-use.
